The retreat
is a unique refuge overlooking the spectacular Mukutan Gorge
on the western edge of the Laikipia region. It is situated on the
extreme west of the region of Laikipia the gem of the East African
Highlands on the ranch of Ol Ari Nyiro.

Ol Ari Nyiro
- The place of Dark Waters in Masai language - is a 100,000 acre ranch
where conservationist and author Kuki Gallmanns haunting autobiography
'I Dreamed of Africa' is based. A haven of breathtaking beauty
where wildlife dwells undisturbed, Ol Ari Nyiro is renowned for the
variety of landscapes, from open savannah to steep gorges, endless
vistas of hills covered in wild sage and thorn trees; for its herds
of elephants, buffalo, antelope and its many lions. |

Accommodation
Three separate cottages, with a spacious central building
provide private, luxurious and romantic accommodation for
up to six people. All rooms have a double fireplace with open
private verandas, spacious bathrooms and double beds. Throughout
the retreat, Swahili and Lamu furniture features prominently,
supported by pieces hand hewn by local craftsmen.
Activities
The retreat offers a wide variety of activities;
Walking through the hills with our local knowledgeable guides.
Game drives.
Game viewing on horseback or camel rides along on of our magnificent
trails.
Alfresco picnics for breakfasts and lunches.
Swimming in one of the waterfall pools.
Fishing for Tilapia Nilotica, black bass and fresh water crayfish
in one of our dams or streams.
Bird watching some of our 400 identified species.
Or you may simply just relax in the luxury of our own sensational
mineral rich thermal hot springs.
